Tá sé ráite ag an scoláire Philip O’Leary gur ‘serious injustice – to Titley, to literature in Irish, and to potential readers’ é a laghad ábhar critice atá scríofa air. Iarracht ar chuid den bhearna sin a líonadh atá sa leabhar seo, ina bhféachann Coilféir le teacht ar bhunfhoinsí ceapadóireachta Titley. Is é a shaothar scríofa agus stáitse, seachas a shaothar don raidió nó don teilifís, atá faoi chaibidil aige agus cuirtear san áireamh mórán gach a bhfuil foilsithe aige óna chéad alt i 1965 go dtí an t-alt is deireanaí uaidh in 2016. Mar is dual d’údar a bhfuil níos mó ná caoga bliain caite aige i mbun pinn, tá líon mór scríbhinní curtha de aige agus éagsúlacht mhór stíle agus scéalaíochta iontu dá réir.
The scholar Philip O'Leary has said that it is a ‘serious injustice – to Titley, to literature in Irish, and to potential readers’ how few critiques have been written about him. This book, in which Coilféir seeks to find Titley's composition sources, is an attempt to fill that gap. He looks at Titley's written and stage works, rather than his pieces for radio or television, including almost everything he has published from his first article in 1965 to his most recent article in 2016. As is typical of an author who has spent more than fifty years writing, he has produced a large number of writings containing a great diversity in both style and storytelling.
